a weight management expert with extensive experience in dealing with complex cases of overweight, responds to some pertinent issues which briefly highlight the following.
9 - Only local exercise causes local fat loss
Myth: Weight loss is achieved in a generalized way, through a negative energy balance, that is, a caloric expenditure higher than its intake. Indeed, when we do local exercises we are only toning, increasing muscle mass in that area, but we are not eliminating the underlying fat deposits.
A meta-analysis published in July 2018 that compares the effects of diet and exercise on weight loss reveals precisely that the combination of the two allows better results than just the dietary restriction.
"Exercise is a great way to lose fat mass essentially, which does not mean that you lose weight, because as a rule there is an increase in muscle mass with exercise."
The tenth Myth about Weight Loss will be published soon, stay tuned!
