Smoking is a deadly habit. According to the World Health Organization, smoking kills 5.7 million people a year worldwide.

Regarding the connection with Obesity, a North American investigation concluded that smokers are more likely to accumulate fat in the abdominal area and can, on average, weigh five kilos more than non-smokers.

Tobacco consumption is usually associated with unhealthy habits. As a rule, smokers are less aware of their health and have less willpower than non-smokers, which makes them more vulnerable to weight gain.

In addition, there are also studies showing some correlation between tobacco and higher incidences of cancer. Although there is no substantial evidence of a direct link between breast cancer and smoking, some research suggests that smoking does increase the risk of breast cancer.

However, in recent times, a study conducted in the Archives of Internal Medicine has gained more evidence regarding the looming question of the relationship between smoking and breast cancer.

The study included nearly 111,000 women followed over a long period of time, from 1976 to 2006. The results concluded that women who had a history of smoking increased their chances of breast cancer by 6% than women who don't smoke.

According to Walter Willet, a professor at the Harvard School of Public Health, women who smoked a pack of cigarettes every day before menopause increased their risk of breast cancer by 6%.
